Money In The Bank Causes Plans For For NXT TakeOver To Change, Title Match Announced

Money in the Bank has become one of WWE’s biggest annual events, and MITB weekend has become just as big. The night before Money in the Bank, the stars of NXT will do battle at NXT TakeOver: Chicago, and it looks like a main roster match caused plans for a NXT match to be changed.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that at one point the idea was for Tommaso Ciampa to face Johnny Gargano in a Last Man Standing match at TakeOver, but match is expected to be announced as a street fight after it was decided that AJ Styles will defend his WWE Title against Shinsuke Nakmaura in a Last Man Standing match at MITB.

WWE has also confirmed that The Undisputed Era (Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong) will defend their NXT Tag Team Titles against Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch at the event.

NXT TakeOver: Chicago will air on the WWE Network on Saturday, June 16th.
