The Miz has been holding down the Intercontinental Title scene for quite some time now, but he recently dropped the IC Title to Roman Reigns on Monday Night Raw. Prior to his run on the red brand, Miz was one of the top stars on SmackDown Live, and he was constantly antagonizing General Manager Daniel Bryan.
Bryan and The Miz have been rivals ever since Daniel Bryan first joined WWE, but now Bryan is retired from in-ring competition.
Daniel Bryan couldn’t take out his frustrations on The Miz on the ring during their feud last year due to his status, but that hasn’t stopped The Miz from hoping Daniel Bryan returns to the ring someday.
During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Miz talked about a potential match with the SmackDown Live General Manager, and he said that he wants to wrestle Bryan so he can show the world how much better he is.
“I would love to beat him up. I would love to beat him up in a WWE ring; all day; every day. I know he’s working tremendously hard to get back in the WWE ring…I would love to have a match with Daniel Bryan; he’s one of the best in-ring technicians that WWE has ever seen, and I would like to showcase how much better I am than him.”
Daniel Bryan has openly said that he’s trying to get cleared so he can wrestle once again, but it looks unlikely that he’ll end up wrestling in a WWE ring again.
One way or another, Bryan’s contract is up in September of 2018, and then it will be up to him whether or not he wrestles again.
