A few weeks ago on Raw, Braun Strowman challenged Kevin Owens for the Universal Title in a singles match. Unfortunately for Braun he wasn’t able to win the title due to interference from Roman Reigns, and it sounds like he also got an earful from Vince McMahon that night.
Raw General Manager Mick Foley was recently a guest on Lilian Garcia’s “Making Their Way to the Ring” and he revealed that Vince McMahon was very unhappy with one of Braun Strowman’s promos, and he let Strowman know it.
“I was about to go out there a couple weeks ago, and I heard Braun Strowman say, I want a title shot. Mr. McMahon’s behind the curtain, at the board watching the monitor, and he goes, oh god, it’s not a title shot. I was thinking to myself, then what is it? That’s exactly what I would go to call it when I would go out there. You want a title shot? He’s like, it’s a title match. It’s a match! So if you ever wonder what it’s like to see a six-foot-eight, three hundred pound behemoth get chewed out, you should’ve been there.”
Braun Strowman truly is a “Monster Among Men” but it sounds like even he knows better than to cross the boss.
With stars such as Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho, Sami Zayn, Charlotte, Sasha Banks and more on the roster, Raw is loaded with talent right now. However, the buzz on social media seems to indicate that fans enjoy SmackDown more than Raw nowadays.
The Raw General Manager wasn’t afraid to talk about the lack of love that the show seems to be getting these days. In regards to what makes the two shows so different, Foley pointed the finger at Monday Night Raw’s third hour.
“Even though SmackDown has been kind of like the internet darling, I believe that if they had three hours instead of two they would find out that it’s tough to be a darling when you’ve got that massive three hour anchor around your neck.”
