Mick Foley Asks Fans Not To Set Up Fundraising Campaigns To Pay For His Hip

Raw General Manager Mick Foley confirmed yesterday that he does indeed need hip surgery, but he also revealed that he does not have health insurance at this time. According to Mick Foley the operation is going to cost $60,000, and he’s exploring options in regards to how the surgery will be paid for.

The wrestling world is a community, and when Mick Foley shared his unfortunate situation with the world, a fan decided to see if she could rally members of the community together to raise money for Foley. A fan named Abby set up a GoFundMe page, and in the description she explained that a few years ago she set up a campaign called Abby’s Million Dollar Dream, as she was trying to raise $1,000,000 for leukemia and lymphoma. Mick Foley helped get some eyes on the campaign by talking about it on social media, and he also donated money.

Abby was trying to return the favor with the GoFundMe page, but Mick Foley is insisting that he does not want fans to donate money to help pay for his surgery.

The campaign has since been paused, and Abby confirmed that a refund request has been issued to GoFundMe so anyone who did donate should be getting their money back. She posted the following update:

“Hello. Mick has asked that I not collect money for his hip replacement surgery. He feels there are many more people in need rather than him. He is very thankful to those who have donated and those who came to donate. If you have donated, a refund request has been issued to GoFundMe. Thank You.”
