This week on Monday Night Raw, Mickie James got a shot at championship gold when she challenged Asuka for the Raw Women’s Championship, and the finish got a lot of people talking.
Asuka put Mickie James in the Asuka Lock, and then things got confusing as the referee rang the bell and declared that James could no longer compete.
PWInsider reports that original plans for the finish called for Mickie James to tap out to the Asuka Lock, but the bell was rung prematurely.
It’s also being reported that the decision was made to ring the bell because there was concern that Mickie James was “out on her feet” due to the way she was selling the Asuka Lock.
It’s been confirmed that Mickie James is fine, it seems that she just fooled those in charge by doing such a good job of selling.
After the match Zelina Vega confronted Asuka, and it’s believed that the post-match segment will set up a n Asuka vs. Zelina Vega match for Clash of Champions.
