Over the years fans have seen a lot of WWE Superstars come and go, and there was once a time when Nick Dinsmore had a consistent presence on WWE programming when he was working as Eugene.
Eugene feuded with former WWE Champion Triple H, and eventually their feud culminated in a singles match at SummerSlam in 2004 which saw Triple H pick up the victory.
Nick Dinsmore recently discussed his SummerSlam match with Triple H during an appearance on Cafe de Rene, and he noted that he had heard Triple H didn’t want to work with Eugene at SummerSlam.
“Someone had said, I don’t know if this is true, he (Triple H) didn’t feel like Eugene was the right guy he probably should have wrestled at SummerSlam. But Vince was like, ‘No, this is the blow-off, we need a pinnacle here.’ I don’t know, but Triple H definitely had fun with it because all of a sudden he’s got a guy who can work a different character.”
Eugene’s run with WWE ended in 2007, but he returned for some appearances in 2009. Nick Dinsmore later went on to work as a trainer in NXT in 2013, but he once again parted ways with the company in 2014.
