Earlier this year Mauro Ranallo mysteriously disappeared from SmackDown Live, and then the rumor mill started churning. Ranallo stopped appearing on WWE programming completely, and he even missed WrestleMania 33.
Rumors started to fly regarding his relationship with WWE, and Mauro later confirmed that he had decided to part ways with the company. It was also confirmed that his contract doesn’t expire until August, and it was reported that the company was still interested in working with Mauro Ranallo in some capacity.
It looks like they’ve worked things out and found the right position for Mauro, because both Ranallo and Triple H announced earlier today that Mauro will be returning to WWE to do commentary in NXT.
Mauro posted the following message on Instagram:
“THE NXT CHAPTER BEGINS!
WWE and I mutually agreed to end my responsibilities on SmackDown having nothing to do with rumors about disputes. As I remained under contract with WWE, we discussed a variety of options. Despite originally agreeing to part ways, there was always a desire to continue working together. We have come to terms on a new agreement that benefits both WWE and me, and I am thrilled to announce I will now be part of the NXT broadcasting team.”
Mauro is set to join the NXT commentary team on Friday.
It was also recently announced that Mauro will be doing play-by-play for Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather, so it’s going to be a big summer for Mr. Ranallo.
