When Mauro Ranallo first joined WWE many fans felt that the talented announcer was a breath of fresh air. The WWE commentary can become monotonous at times, which is to no fault of the announcers themselves, that’s just the way the company likes it.
That’s why Mauro Ranallo’s voice was a big change of pace for wrestling fans, because he called every single match as if it was a WrestleMania main event, and his enthusiasm was contagious.
Things seemed to be going great for Mauro Ranallo, but unfortunately things took a turn for the worse earlier this year when he mysteriously disappeared from the SmackDown Live announce team and missed WrestleMania 33.
After weeks of rumors and speculation, Mauro Ranallo finally confirmed that he had parted ways with WWE, although his contract doesn’t officially expire until August 12th.
We probably won’t be seeing Mauro Ranallo return to WWE anytime soon, but he’s got a huge gig lined up in August, as he’s set to do commentary for one of the most anticipated fights of all time.
For years people have been talking about a possible showdown between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather, and on August 26th it’s finally going to happen.
Sporting News reports that Mauro Ranallo will be doing play-by-play for the highly anticipated bout, and he’ll be joined by host Brian Custer as well as Al Bernstein who will be doing color commentary.
Unfortunately things didn’t work out for Mauro Ranallo’s WWE run, but he gets to do play-by-play for one of the biggest fights of all time, so I’d say things turned out alright for him.
