Matt Sydal Compares Wrestling Society X To WWE, Lucha Underground Netflix Premiere Date

Matt Sydal, formerly known as Evan Bourne in WWE, was recently a guest on X-Pac’s 12360 show and he opened up about his time with Wrestling Society X.

Wrestling Society X was a short-lived wrestling series that premiered on MTV in 2006, but the show didn’t last very long as the network pulled it after only 9 episodes even though 10 episodes were filmed. Despite the fact that the show didn’t last long, Sydal had nothing but good things to say about Wrestling Society X.

“At WSX I think I was very much trying to figure it out on my own and we were creating our own style and our own thing. I can only speak for myself, I was not trying to be anything. I was not trying to be like anyone else. I was not trying to do what anyone else was doing. I was doing my own thing. I was creating content that I had in my head and I was making it in the ring and WSX was giving me an opportunity, an uninhibited opportunity, to create and manufacture my vision for wrestling for other people. When I was working for WWE I felt like I was trying to make someone else’s vision happen instead of my own. And I think that’s where I became less true to myself and I think it showed in my work.”

Lucha Underground is one the most unique promotions in all of professional wrestling and their weekly show has created quite the buzz. Unfortunately fans seem to have a tough time finding the show, as not everyone has access to the El Rey Network.

Well luckily fans will be able to catch up on the show soon via Netflix as the first two seasons will be available on the streaming service soon. According to CNET, season one and two of Lucha Underground will be premiering on Netflix on March 15th.
