It’s been an interesting year of ups and downs for Matt Hardy and his brother Jeff. They returned to WWE at WrestleMania 33 and immediately captured tag team gold, but they’re still tied to their former promotion Global Force Wrestling due to a legal battle over the rights to the Broken Universe.
GFW is claiming ownership of the rights to the Broken Universe, and after negotiations fell through, GFW President Ed Nordholm publicly said that he’s done negotiating with The Hardys. It doesn’t look like there are any plans for GFW to let The Hardys use the gimmick anytime soon, but that’s ok, they seem to have it all figured out.
Matt Hardy recently said that there’s been an awakening inside The Hardys, and it seems that the brothers are teasing a new evolution of their characters known as The Woken Hardys.
Matt has been cranking up the references to his Broken Matt Hardy vocabulary on Twitter, only instead of using the hashtag #BrokenBrilliance, he’s been using #WokenWisdom.
Jeff Jarrett is the man steering the ship for Global Force Wrestling, and last year he announced that he was launching Global Force Gold. It was explained that fans could join Team Jarrett if they signed up for Global Force Gold and used money to invest in gold.
The idea was heavily criticized and many accused Jeff of running a Ponzi scheme.
Matt Hardy decided to have a little fun on Twitter today by referencing the idea when he posted the following:
The former TNA World Heavyweight Champion took things on step further when said that people who peddle gold can’t be trusted.
If anybody knows a thing or two about gold, it’s Matt Hardy. He spent several months embarking on an Expedition of Gold with his brother Jeff, and they captured various Tag Team Titles. But it appears that the lesson here is that gold is meant to be procured, not peddled.
