Matt Hardy is a pretty smart guy. He knows how to work a crowd and also take a step back to view the greater societal trends as well and from what he sees, some aspects of social media might be broken if they’re not already obsolete.
The oldest Hardy Boy recently took to Twitter in order to propose something quite revolutionary. Hardy said someone should have to take a test in order to obtain a social media license.
This might be a controversial take on things, but if you’re up in arms about it maybe that’s because you’re afraid you’d fail a test like the one Matt Hardy is proposing? It’s just my observations of things, but if someone were to have no doubt they would pass said test then there might not be a problem with such a test’s existence.
With social media becoming the new way human beings communicate one could argue this kind of licensing system could prohibit people from participating in basic human rights. It’s also a pain to have to pass a test and renew a license every so often. But it’s also hard to argue the number of social media frustrations would go down dramatically if people unfit for social media interaction weren’t allowed to muddle the deep waters of human communication with their trolling.
The more I ponder this notion the more it sounds like a bad idea. But there could be some validity to the simple principle a test like this presents, it just might need to have the wrinkles ironed out a bit. Matt Hardy certainly thinks it would be a good idea. After all, if you fail the test you can always just study up on having common sense and decency (as if there’s a way to brush up on that) and try it again in 6 months.
