Matt Hardy Reveals Vince McMahon’s Reaction To The Ultimate Deletion

Matt Hardy got the wrestling world talking when he introduced the world to the Broken Universe when the Hardys were in Impact Wrestling. When the Hardys returned to WWE in 2017 fans naturally wondered if they could see some version of the Broken Universe on WWE programming.

During his feud with Bray Wyatt, Matt Hardy finally got his chance to bring the Broken Universe to WWE in the form of the Ultimate Deletion. The former Raw Tag Team Champion discussed the Ultimate Deletion during a recent episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast and he noted that WWE officials were, “pleasantly surprised that it did do that good of a number.”

Even though the powers that be were happy with the numbers the Ultimate Deletion did Matt Hardy did point out that Vince McMahon openly admitted that he just didn’t get it.

“There was a standing ovation at the end of it, and I remember Vince was like, ‘I hope that means it’s good. I just don’t get it, I don’t get it.’ As he said that, I remember somebody told me [Vince said] in the production meeting, ‘I’ll tell you this, if this ends up doing a good number, I feel like I’m not on the pulse anymore. If this ends up doing a really good number, I need to change the way I do business because I’m not on the pulse anymore.’ It was also very frustrating, the line that was fed to Michael Cole right from the jump, kind of downplaying it already so that was very frustrating and disappointing as well.”
