Woken Matt Hardy has been feuding with Bray Wyatt for months now, but his biggest feud over the past year has been with Impact Wrestling.
After Matt and Jeff Hardy left the company in 2017, Impact Wrestling started sending out cease and desist letters telling the brothers that they couldn’t use the Broken Hardys gimmick outside of the company.
This did not go over well with Matt, or the fans, and it prevented the brothers from bringing the gimmick with them to WWE when they returned at WrestleMania 33.
But the feud between Matt Hardy and Impact Wrestling is “OVAH” as the company recently announced that it would be allowing former talents to keep their gimmicks after exiting the company.
PWInsider is reporting that Matt Hardy is now listed as the owner of TNA’s trademark applications for Broken Matt, Brother Nero, Broken Brilliance and Vanguard 1.
Matt Hardy and Ed Nordhold reportedly signed an agreement that transferred ownership on January 8. The official transfer of ownership took place on January 31.
The Broken Universe now officially belongs to Matt Hardy.
However, it’s unknown at this point in time if Hardy will be switching his name from Woken Matt to Broken Matt, as the belief is that WWE wanted him to use a name that they could own. But it’s worth noting that he recently teased he would be focusing on his “BROKEN BEGINNINGS” after he was defeated by Bray Wyatt at Raw 25.
