There are a number of power couples in professional wrestling at the moment. Matt Cardona and Chelsea Green got married back in 2021, and they’ve both achieved success in their own way since then.
Matt Cardona reinvented himself on the indies, while Chelsea Green has become one of the top stars in the WWE women’s division. Since returning to WWE in 2023, Chelsea Green has managed to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship, and last month she made history when she became the first ever WWE Women’s United States Champion.
While speaking with Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour, Matt Cardona talked about his reaction to Chelsea’s success and made it clear that there’s no jealousy. However, he also noted that there’s a part of him that wants to return to WWE.
“I will admit, for instance watching her at WrestleMania, I’m sitting in the press box, or Money in the Bank, I’m sitting there watching. Of course, I’m super proud. But of course , part of me’s like, ‘I should be there.’ But not, ‘I should be there and not her.’ I should be there also.
No [there’s no jealousy]. No way. I’ve been there, done that. Could be different if I was never there. But luckily I was, fortunately I was. I’m so grateful for that time. So I’m able to support her. But of course, I want to be there as well. So many guys and girls who leave WWE want to go back. But would they make a difference? I truly believe I would. That’s why I really do think I should go back.”
