Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock were without a doubt the two biggest stars at the forefront of the Attitude Era. It can be argued that one of the reasons these two became two of the greatest of all time was largely due to their endless feud with each other. The Rock and Steve Austin made it clear to each other that they both wanted to be the best in the business and the fans reaped the benefits as they continued to raise the bar when it came to entertainment.
This match is the pinnacle of the Attitude Era and although it’s not a “technical classic” by any means, it manages to tell a great story and keep your eyes glued to the screen for a solid 30 plus minutes of action. To this day this match is still talked about and with good reason.
Paul Heyman says it best before the opening promo when he states that “it’s the match that both men need to win and neither man can afford to lose.”
