The year 2006 was the birth of the “Rated R Superstar” when Edge finally managed to break into the main event scene. Edge made history when he became the first person to ever cash in his money in the bank contract which lead to him beating John Cena for the WWE title. John Cena eventually got a rematch that featured Mick Foley as the guest referee where he lost the WWE title back to John Cena. After the match Edge blamed Foley for his loss which gave birth to their feud.
Edge then challenged Mick Foley to a match at WrestleMania 22 and Foley accepted under the conditions that the match be contested under hardcore rules. What follows is one of the most brutal matches in WWE history. Edge and Mick Foley put their bodies on the line as they create a defining moment in both of their careers.
