Martha Hart On Vince McMahon Not Stopping WWE PPV After Owen Hart’s Death

Owen Hart was a wrestler who was beloved by millions of people all around the world, but his life was tragically cut short after a stunt went wrong during the WWE Over The Edge pay-per-view on May 23, 1999.

The former Intercontinental Champion tragically fell almost 80 feet to his death, and his death is the focus of the season finale of Vice’s Dark Side of the Ring series titled “The Final Days of Owen Hart.”

After Owen Hart fell the controversial decision was made to continue with the pay-per-view, a decision which has been heavily criticized for years now.

Martha Hart recently spoke to CBS Sports to promote the upcoming episode of Dark Side of the Ring, and she got brutally honest while talking about Vince McMahon’s decision to carry on with the show.

“When Owen died, they scooped him out like a piece of garbage and they paraded wrestlers out to wrestle in a ring that had Owen’s blood, where the boards were broken from Owen’s fall and where the guys could feel the dip in the ring from where he fell. Just that disrespect and lack of respect for a human life that had just been lost. The fact that they didn’t stop the show is just appalling. Vince McMahon was a poor leader, and he failed because that talent was looking for leadership and he failed them.”

“The Final Days of Owen Hart” will premiere on Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET.
