Every wrestler knows that a world title win can change their career in an instant. After spending years working on the WWE main roster Mark Henry finally captured the WWE World Heavyweight Championship when he defeated Randy Orton at Night of Champions in 2011, and the title reign took Henry’s career to the next level.
Mark Henry recently talked about the big win on the A To Z Podcast when he explained that he felt his career path and reactions he was getting from fans forced WWE to give him a run with the belt.
“The whole point of me winning was based off like a whole career of not politicking to be the guy. It got to the point to where every time I lost, the crowd would say, ‘Bulls***, no that ain’t right,’ and then they ended up having to do the right thing. My career forced them to do the right thing.”
Henry then went on to reveal what Vince McMahon said to him before the title match when he added, “Well, I guess, since the crowd turns on us every time you lose, I guess you’re going over tonight.”
