Mark Henry Reveals Vince McMahon’s Reaction To Him Joining AEW

In recent months fans have seen some interesting names join All Elite Wrestling such as Sting, Christian Cage and Paul Wight. On Sunday night WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry shocked the world when he made his AEW debut during the Double or Nothing pay-per-view, and it was revealed that Henry will be working as an analyst on AEW’s new show Rampage.

Henry has a long history with WWE, which means he also has a long history with Vince McMahon. During a recent episode of Busted Open Radio the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion revealed that he talked to Vince McMahon about where his career was headed, and Vince told to go if that’s what he felt he needed to do.

“Everybody knows me and Vince got love for each other, and more than love, respect. Me calling him and saying what needed to be said came from a place that was like a brother telling his older brother, ‘Man I’m tired of being in the shadows. I feel like somebody beneath you is holding me back and if somebody is holding me back, I gotta go. I feel like I’m being held back and I’m not getting what I want and I want to be successful. I want to be able to earn more and get those pelts on the wall.’

It was like the coolest thing, he was like, ‘You know everything you need to know. If you feel like you need to go, I don’t necessarily want it, but if you feel like you need to go, then go. I know you’re going to be successful.'”

Mark Henry last wrestled when he competed in the Greatest Royal Rumble match in Saudi Arabia in April of 2018. His last on screen appearance for WWE took place back in January when he was confronted by Randy Orton during Legends Night.
