The WWE World Heavyweight Championship tournament kicked off on Monday Night Raw this week and Seth Rollins went on to defeat Finn Balor in the semifinals. Rollins punched his tickets to Night of Champions and this week on SmackDown two more triple threat matches took place.
Edge vs. AJ Styles vs. Rey Mysterio kicked off the show and it was AJ Styles who picked up the victory after he hit Edge with the Phenomenal Forearm then pinned him to win the match. Bobby Lashley vs. Austin Theory vs. Sheamus took place later in the night and Lashley won the second match after Sheamus hit Austin Theory with the Brogue Kick then Lashley threw Sheamus out of the ring and pinned Theory.
Bobby Lashley and AJ Styles later faced off in the main event. The end of the match came when Lashley went for a spear in the corner, but Lashley ended up running into the turnbuckle instead. AJ Styles then kicked Lashley in the head then followed up with the Phenomenal Forearm for the win.
AJ Styles will now go on to face Seth Rollins in the finals of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship tournament. WWE Night of Champions will air live from Saudi Arabia on Saturday, May 27. Stay tuned for more updates on the event as they become available.
