The Royal Rumble aired live from St. Louis on Saturday night, and the show featured some interesting matches including the 30 man Royal Rumble match which both members of RK-Bro entered this year.
WrestleVotes reports that last spring the original plan was to split up RK-Bro and build toward Randy Orton vs. Riddle at SummerSlam. However, that didn’t happen and the plan following SummerSlam was to hold off on the split until WrestleMania.
It’s now being said that now only a handful of people in creative want to split up RK-Bro, and the idea is that if they do face off at WrestleMania then it should be for the WWE Title. It was also recently reported that original plans called for Riddle to win the men’s Royal Rumble match before the decision was made to go with Brock Lesnar.
Prior to winning the Royal Rumble match Brock Lesnar dropped the WWE Championship to Bobby Lashley earlier in the night. It was announced today that Bobby Lashley will defend the WWE Title inside the Elimination Chamber on Saturday, February 19th. The other competitors in the match have not been announced, so it will be interesting to see how the WWE Title picture plays out on the road to WrestleMania.
Stay tuned for updates.
WWE had plans since the pairing began last spring for Riddle vs Randy Orton @ SummerSlam, which didn’t happen. Plan was to hold off til Mania. I’m told now only a handful of creative members want to spilt them, w/ the idea that if the match happens, it should be for the WWE title
