WWE has been trying to lock down some of their biggest names to new contracts and it looks like another former WWE Champion has signed a multi-year deal.
Fightful Select is reporting that they’ve spoken with sources that claimed Randy Orton has re-signed with WWE. Orton had originally signed a five year deal with WWE in 2019 that would have kept him with the company through the end of 2024.
The word internally is that The Viper has agreed to a new five-year deal that is set to keep him with the company until late 2029. Neither WWE nor Orton directly confirmed the new deal has been signed.
When one source was asked why WWE would sign him to new deal instead of extending his current deal due to the time Orton missed because of his injury they did not confirm the deal, but noted that guaranteed money associated with contracts has drastically shifted from where it was in 2019. It was noted that it would be more fair to sign a new deal rather than extend an existing deal due to factors such as live event schedules, touring, media obligations, merchandise and more.
While Orton had publicly teased interest in All Elite Wrestling back in 2019 it was noted that nothing of that sort was discussed this time around.
