Back at Crown Jewel in November, Rey Mysterio defended the United States Championship against Logan Paul, and it was Logan Paul who walked out with the gold. On the following episode of SmackDown, Santos Escobar turned on Rey Mysterio which led to Mysterio being written off TV after Escobar smashed his leg with the steel ring steps.
It was later reported that Rey Mysterio underwent surgery to repair a knee injury and he was expected to be out of action for at least six weeks. Now it sounds like Rey Mysterio could be back sooner than later as the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Rey is targeting two to four weeks from now for a possible return.
With Mysterio potentially two to four weeks away from returning it seems that there’s hope for him to be back in time for the Royal Rumble. It’s been rumored that when Rey Mysterio returns he will be picking up where he left off when it comes to his feud with Santos Escobar.
Stay tuned for more updates on Rey Mysterio’s return as they become available.
