The last few years have been full of some major surprises for wrestling fans and in 2020, Edge made his return to the ring at the Royal Rumble. In 2021, Christian also returned to the ring at the Royal Rumble and he briefly reunited with Edge.
The Rated R Superstar has made it clear that he’s currently on his retirement run which means he only has so many matches left. Recently it’s been rumored that Edge may want to work with Christian one more time before he retires, but currently Christian is part of the AEW roster.
WrestleVotes recently spoke to GiveMeSport about Edge’s plans after his deal with WWE expires, and it was noted that WWE higher-ups are not expected him to appear on AEW programming.
“If he retires the summer in Toronto, I wouldn’t be surprised. I would be surprised if he finishes his current deal and then goes to AEW, WWE would be surprised too. Even though you’ve got Christian factor, you know, they could team one more time and wrestle each other one more time, I’d be surprised if he wrestles past WWE. WWE would be very surprised as well.”
Edge recently picked up a big win over Finn Balor at WrestleMania 39, and there’s currently no word on what his next feud could be. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
