Last year WWE went through some big changes as Triple H took over creative for the company and since then he’s brought back a number of former WWE Superstars.
It was rumored that Triple H was underwhelmed with some of the talent that returned, but WWE seems to be downplaying that idea. Fightful Select reports that a longtime employee contacted them to say that rumored had been severely downplayed within WWE. One source noted that even if Triple H felt that way he would never say it out loud.
A member of the creative team said that it wasn’t expected that anyone who was brought back would ascend to the top of a card that had already been planned out. Another source added that Triple H wanted to add more depth to the rosters on Raw and SmackDown and numerous talent were told that when they were brought back. The hope is that the signings were a long term play as the company wants each talent to be a little more over every time they come back to an arena.
The issue of depth on the roster was brought up immediately after Triple H took over. Several of the talent WWE signed were told that depth was one of the reasons they were brought back.
