Major Update On Sasha Banks’ Status With NJPW

Sasha Banks has been the talk of the wrestling world for months now and it looks like The Boss is set to embark on a new chapter in her career when the new year starts.

It’s been reported that Sasha Banks, real name Mercedes Varnado, is going to be in attendance for NJPW Wrestle Kingdom, and PWInsider is reporting that she’s en route to Japan. Varnado is expected to arrive tomorrow for her upcoming appearance at Wrestle Kingdom 17 on 1/4/23.

NJPW Wrestle Kingdom is set to feature IWGP Women’s Champion Kairi vs. Tam Nakano, and Mercedes Varnado is expected to at least make a cameo at the event. Varnado will be in Japan for the next several weeks as she prepares for Wrestle Kingdom.

It was recently reported that Mercedes Varnado negotiated her departure from WWE months ago under the stipulation that she would not be able to take any wrestling related bookings until January 1st. With the new year just around the corner it will be interesting to see where the former WrestleMania main eventer goes from here. Stay tuned for updates.
