Rey Mysterio has been one of the top stars on the WWE roster for decades now and his match is typically one of the bigger matches on the WrestleMania card every year.
Originally Rey Mysterio was set to face off against El Grande Americano on the Grandest Stage of Them All this year, but Mysterio announced on Saturday just hours before the show that he wasn’t medically cleared to compete. Rey Fenix ended up replacing Rey Mysterio and El Grande Americano picked up the victory over Fenix during night 1 of WrestleMania.
Rey Mysterio discussed his injury status during a Fanatics Live Signing and he confirmed that he suffered a torn groin when he teamed with Rey Fenix & Dragon Lee to face American Made on SmackDown last week.
“It’s unfortunate that I suffered a torn groin on Friday night at SmackDown and I wasn’t able to perform. Live to fight another day,” Mysterio said.
At this point in time it’s not clear how long Rey Mysterio will be out of action. Stay tuned for more updates on Rey’s status as they become available.
