Earlier this month The Rock got fans talking when he returned to WWE during Day 1 Raw and teased a potential match with Roman Reigns. Following The Rock’s return there’s been a lot of speculation regarding this year’s WrestleMania card.
On Saturday night Cody Rhodes won the 30 man Royal Rumble match and he made it clear during the post-show press conference that he intends to challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 40.
The American Nightmare has punched his ticket to WrestleMania, but that doesn’t meant a Rock vs. Roman Reigns match won’t take place at some point as Dave Meltzer claimed on Wrestling Observer Radio that the match is still happening.
“It is going to be Cody and Roman Reigns in a singles match. A Dwayne and Roman Reigns match, whenever it is, is still happening. I just don’t know where. And Bryan, you may know where, because you probably know discussions that I may know too and I can’t talk about them but anyway, the point is that it is still happening.”
It’s also being reported that The Rock vs. Roman Reigns will not be taking place at Elimination Chamber next month because The Tribal Chief is not currently scheduled for the event. Although the exact date for The Rock’s match with Roman Reigns is unknown at this point in time it is expected to happen at some point this year.
