Last week Rey Mysterio and the LWO kicked off Friday Night SmackDown, but things quickly fell apart as Carlito questioned Santos Escobar and his loyalty to Rey Mysterio. One thing led to another and Rey Mysterio was seemingly written off TV when Escobar attacked Mysterio and targeted his leg.
Haus of Wrestling is reporting that Rey Mysterio had been working with a torn meniscus over the last three months. The injury reportedly worsened slowly, so Rey agreed to drop the United States Championship at Crown Jewel and do the injury angle on SmackDown last week.
It’s expected that Rey Mysterio will be out of action for six to eight weeks as he recovers from surgery. The Hall of Famer will likely pick up where he left off and resume his feud with Santos Escobar when he makes his return.
If things go according to plan for Mysterio he should be ready for the Royal Rumble heading into WrestleMania season. Stay tuned for more updates on Rey Mysterio’s status as they become available.
