This week was a big one for Edge as he celebrated his 25th anniversary with WWE and also faced off against Sheamus for the first time ever on Friday Night SmackDown. Ahead of his face off with Sheamus on SmackDown, Edge confirmed that the bout was the last match on his WWE contract which has led to a lot of speculation about his future.
WrestleVotes is reporting that as of right now Edge has not signed a new contract with WWE. The feeling among creative is that Edge’s next move is unknown. It’s being said that the ball is truly in Edge’s court.
Following his match with Sheamus on Friday Night SmackDown, Edge cut a promo where he told the fans in Toronto that it would be the last time he will wrestle in front of them because he doesn’t think he can make it through another full run in order to return to the city.
During a recent appearance on the FAN Morning Show, Edge explained that his contract with WWE won’t technically expire until the end of September. Edge has not officially declared one way or another at this point if he is indeed done in the ring, so we’ll have to wait and see what the future holds for the Rated R Superstar.
