Tony Khan confirmed last month that CM Punk’s contract with All Elite Wrestling had been terminated. In recent weeks there’s been a lot of talk about Punk possibly returning to WWE and it’s been rumored that the two sides have been in talks.
Fightful Select reports that CM Punk is currently not planned for a WWE return. People high up in WWE who spoke on the subject noted that any reports claiming CM Punk has signed a deal to return are false.
Additionally it’s being reported that as of October 10 the claim internally is that CM Punk and WWE are not in talks. It’s being said that several people wanted to make that clear to the fans who are expecting to see Punk return at Survivor Series in Chicago this year. Things could always change, but WWE sources are adamant that the company is not in talks with CM Punk at this point in time.
One source close to Punk said that they believe reports claiming he had feelers talking to WWE about how a potential return should be approached are accurate. The same source noted that they’ve heard CM Punk was waiting for WWE to approach him.
Several talent reportedly asked people in power outright if CM Punk was coming back and they were told that as of right now he’s not returning. Plans could change, and talks could happen,
