Over the last few days the wrestling world has been talking a lot about CM Punk’s backstage altercation with Jack Perry at All In. Things reportedly got physical between Jack Perry and CM Punk, and Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer recently noted on Twitter that the belief in AEW is that both men were suspended.
Sports Illustrated is now reporting that they’ve confirmed that both Jack Perry and CM Punk have been suspended due to the altercation that took place at All In. There doesn’t seem to be a specific amount of time for the suspension as the incident is currently under investigation, and it’s not known how long the investigation will last. One way or another it doesn’t look like CM Punk or Jack Perry will be appearing at the upcoming events in Chicago including Dynamite, Collision and All Out.
Jack Perry and CM Punk exchanged words after Perry returned backstage following his match against Hook. There are multiple accounts regarding what happened, but eyewitnesses have confirmed things got physical between Punk and Perry shortly before Punk was supposed to face Samoa Joe in the opening match.
Due to the altercation there was talk of having Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, and Hangman Page vs. Jay White, Juice Robinson, and Konosuke Takeshita open the show. It’s being said that the wrestlers in the six man tag match were ready to start the show, but CM Punk and Samoa Joe went on as planned after Joe spoke to Punk.
