As WrestleMania approaches some are worried because AJ Styles recently went down with what is believed to be some kind of knee injury. Although he was able to do an angle at the Madison Square Garden house show where he appeared to be injured, The Phenomenal One still managed to pull off a run-in angle and save Shinsuke Nakamura.
It was believed that AJ Styles might have actually been injured before his big MSG angle.
After that though, AJ Styles was pulled from house shows in Texas and he didn’t do anything on SmackDown Live the next week to save Shinsuke Nakamura from an assault even though he totally could have.
As we continued to hear rumblings that Daniel Bryan vs Shinsuke Nakamura is certainly a dream match WWE could consider, AJ Styles said something along the lines that even if he gets his leg cut off, he’s making his match with Nakamura at Mania. But Triple H’s comments on the matter kind of put us at ease a little bit.
Now it looks like there is good news for Styles because he is working this weekend’s house shows. PW Insider reports Styles is booked to team with The New Day against Rusev Day alongside Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable in an 8-man tag match. That sounds like a fun time, but it’s still a multi-man tag match that could really protect the WWE Champion.
Next week, AJ Styles is advertised to compete in a fatal four-way match against Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, and Baron Corbin in Huntington, WV which is another match that could see Styles taking some time off on the outside to rest a little.
Only time will tell how the Shinsuke Nakamura vs AJ Styles match turns out, but it is certainly something AJ Styles would not miss for the world no matter how his leg is feeling. If it’s anything close to their collision in New Japan Pro Wrestling at Wrestle Kingdom 10, then we’re all in for something very special.
