For months now fans have been wondering who could challenge the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion at Clash at the Castle in September, and Sheamus and Drew McIntyre have been vying for the spot. This week the two stars faced off in a donnybrook match on SmackDown and Sheamus attacked Drew before the bell rang.
The match saw interference from both Ridge Holland and Butch, but Drew managed to power back. At one point it seemed like Sheamus had the match won when Drew hit Butch with the Claymore and Sheamus followed up by hitting the Brogue Kick on Drew. Unfortunately for Sheamus, Drew kicked out then powerbombed Sheamus through a table.
Drew McIntyre then hit Sheamus with the Claymore then pinned him to earn the title shot. Drew McIntyre will now go on to challenge the winner of Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at Clash at the Castle.
Stay tuned for updates.
