This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite is the special Grand Slam edition and it kicked off in a big way. Claudio Castagnoli defended the ROH World Championship against Chris Jericho in the opening match and it was Jericho who picked up the win.
Near the end of the match Chris Jericho grabbed a bat and tried to hit Claudio with it, but Claudio grabbed it and blocked the shot. Claudio then went for the Neutralizer on Jericho, but Jericho reversed it and flipped Claudio over his head.
Claudio landed on his feet and then charged toward referee Aubrey Edwards in the corner, but managed to stop himself before hitting her. As Aubrey was turned around in the corner Claudio walked toward Jericho and Jericho hit him with a low blow followed by the Judas Effect to win the ROH World Championship.
After the match the Jericho Appreciation Society made their way out into Arthur Ashe Stadium to celebrate the big win with Jericho as the segment came to an end.
