Roman Reigns will be defending his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Riddle this week on Friday Night SmackDown, and Monday night on Raw the stakes for the title match were raised.
Raw kicked off with a Miz TV segment which featured Paul Heyman as the guest. Miz hyped up how the Money in the Bank winner could cash in on Roman Reigns, but Heyman assured him that anyone who cashes in on Roman will fail to win the title. Riddle was mentioned, so he made his way out to the ring.
Riddle confronted Paul Heyman and that’s when Heyman announced that if Riddle fails to defeat Roman Reigns this Friday on SmackDown he will not be able to challenge for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship again while Reigns is the champion. Paul Heyman told Riddle that it’s due or die on the island of relevancy before introducing The Usos.
The Usos surrounded Riddle who was inside the ring, but The Street Profits made the save and Montez Ford faced off against Jimmy Uso in a singles match.
As revealed by @HeymanHustle, if @SuperKingofBros does not defeat @WWERomanReigns this Friday in the championship match on #SmackDown, Riddle will not be able to challenge for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship as long as Roman Reigns is champion!#WWERaw pic.twitter.com/lRlpUqt6e4
