We’re a few days away from the Royal Rumble which means the road to WrestleMania will be kicking off soon. For months now it’s been speculated that CM Punk could challenge Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the big event, but it looks like WWE may be going in a different direction.
Sports Illustrated is now reporting that there’s a new plan in place as Gunther is the favorite to win the Royal Rumble match then go on to dethrone Seth Rollins during the first night of WrestleMania 40.
It’s also being reported that multiple sources close to Triple H have indicated that Cody Rhodes will not main event WrestleMania 40, nor will he finish his story on the Grandest Stage of Them All. According to the report current plans call for CM Punk vs. Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania and the promo on Monday Night Raw was done to lay the groundwork for the match.
As of right now all signs point to The Rock being the one to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania with the idea being that Roman Reigns will be keeping his seat at the Head of the Table.
