There have been a number of AEW stars who have had to sit on the sidelines due to injury over the last year or so, and former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega has been out of action since he dropped the belt to Adam Page at Full Gear in November of 2021.
It’s been rumored for some time now that the introduction of the AEW Trios Championship was being held off for Kenny Omega’s return, and those rumors only intensified as The Young Bucks set the stage for a mystery partner to be introduced in their AEW Trios Championship tournament match on Dynamite this week.
When it came time for the quarterfinal match for the AEW Trios Championship tournament in the main event Andrade El Idolo, Rush and Dragon Lee made their way to the ring and then The Young Bucks entered with Brandon Cutler.
The arena then went silent as Justin Roberts did his extended announcement for Kenny Omega. The former AEW World Champion then made his entrance to a big pop from the crowd with Don Callis following behind him. Omega came out wearing a brace on his shoulder and he hugged The Young Bucks before the match started.
Throughout the match Kenny Omega sold that his knee wasn’t 100% but he scored the win for his team when he hit Dragon Lee with the One Winged Angel.
