WrestleMania season will be kicking off in a few weeks and there’s sure to be plenty of talk regarding what matches will end up on the card. Fightful Select reports that there had been pitches within the company for a Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena match at WrestleMania 39, but that match hasn’t been discussed since the new WWE regime took over.
It was also noted that prior to Vince McMahon’s retirement it was presumed that Cody Rhodes would compete for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 39. People in creative noted that those plans weren’t outright told to them even though they were assumed. However, it’s being said that anything Vince McMahon had in mind before his departure is no longer set for the show.
WWE wants The Rock and Logan Paul for WrestleMania, but so far there hasn’t been confirmation that either name will appear. Cena’s status for the show is also unclear, but it’s being reported that internal talk for Cena’s match has shifted from Austin Theory to Logan Paul.
WrestleMania 39 will air on Saturday, April 1 and Sunday, April 2 from SoFi Stadium. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
