Over the last few years All Elite Wrestling has signed some big names and in December of 2020, Sting shocked the world when he debuted at Winter Is Coming. Sting has been able to add another exciting chapter to his storied career, but it looks like his run with the company will be coming to an end sooner than later.
Sting recently spoke to D Magazine and confirmed that his contract with AEW will end this year. However, he did not specify exactly when the deal ends, but made it clear that he will be retiring when it does.
Currently Sting does not have a plan in place for a retirement match. He did admit that he has some insecurities when it comes to the inevitable hype that would surround such a match.
“And I’ve got some insecurities about that, I guess, mainly due to age. The more focus, now you’ve got to follow that big build-up, you know? Part of me, it’s like I want to avoid it.”
“Whatever I do, I want wrestling fans to say, ‘That was incredible.’ I don’t want them to walk away going, ‘That was embarrassing.’ I just want it to be a great memory and then to just finally, once and for all, say, ‘Adios.’”
Stay tuned for more updates on Sting’s career as they become available.
