Mae Young Classic II Taping Dates Finally Announced

When the Mae Young Classic II logo popped up during a promo hyping upcoming WWE Network content a lot of people were really excited, especially if they loved women’s wrestling. The MYC brought some of the top names from around the globe to Full Sail University and left plenty of memories in the ring.

Now it looks like we have a date of when the next Mae Young Classic will actually take place as Bryan Alvarez said on Wrestling Observer Live that WWE will be filming these episodes on August 7th and 8th.

The shows will presumably take place at Full Sail University like they did last year. Of course, at this time it’s unknown if it will receive the same fanfare last year’s inaugural event received but a couple exciting names were discussed for the tournament during the show.

Io Shirai could be inching closer to WWE once more. She almost came in last year and the woman who put on outstanding matches in Stardom with the likes of Asuka and Kairi Sane couldn’t make a deal work out. A neck injury was discovered and in the time it took to get everything squared away with that, WWE took back their offer which was a real shame. However, it looks like she could be on the way seeing how she dropped her Wonder Of Stardom Championship at this week’s Stardom show.

Toni Storm could also be on her way back to the Mae Young Classic this year after making it all the way to the semifinals during last year’s event. Her face popped up during a promo package hyping WWE’s upcoming UK Championship Tour in June. Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio that she told Stardom that she had to make it back by the time those tour dates would take place too which is very interesting.

Another great question we don’t know yet is whether they will air the episodes in chunks like they did last year. There is no word on when this special will air just yet, but it’s likely going to take them some time to get the episodes ready. So they might be on track for late Summer if not early Fall depending on where they want to place the shows.

Even though we have a ton of questions at this point at least the Mae Young Classic is actually happening. So pay attention to your favorite indie worker’s calendar around early August because they might be headed to Full Sail.
