Madison Rayne is a professional wrestling veteran who has already accomplished a lot throughout the course of her career, and it was recently announced that she will be competing in the 2018 Mae Young Classic as Ashley Rayne.
The 5 time Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion recently spoke to Montana Standard about her reaction to the news, and she admitted that she couldn’t help but cry.
“I cried,” Rayne recalled. “I turned into such a crier the last couple of years. I don’t know if it’s because I’m a mother, but I cried and cried. It just feels really good after 13 years of really hard work and trying to find out who exactly I wanted to be in the ring and figure out exactly what I wanted my career to look like and what story I wanted to tell.
Rayne also noted that she has a great support system behind her, and when she presented the idea to her family everyone encouraged her to enter the tournament.
“When I presented all this to my family, not one person for a half a second took a moment to think about their answer. They all said to me, ‘You’re at the peak of your career right now. You can’t give up now.’ If anything is going to motivate you to push yourself, it’s going to be that.”
Ashley Rayne will be joining Allysin Kay, Zatara, Xia Li, MJ Jenkins, Rachel Evers, Hiroyo Matsumoto, Aerial Monroe, Vanessa Kraven, Ashley Rayne, Priscilla Moon, Xia Brookside, Toni Storm, Zeuxis, NXT UK’s Isla Dawn, NXT signee Lacey Lane, Karen Q, Kavita Devi, Mercedes Martinez, Mia Yim, Killer Kelly, Crystal, former Divas Champion Kaitlyn, Rhea Ripley, Io Shirai, Nicole Matthews, Jinny, “American Ninja Warrior” star Kacy Catanzaro, Tegan Nox, Deonna Purrazzo, Jessica Elaban and Reina González in the tournament.
