WWE recently dropped a trailer for a WWE Network program titled “Southpaw Regional Wrestling.” The trailer didn’t reveal many details, but judging from the clip it looks like the show gives WWE stars a chance to show what they can do in the world of comedy.
One half of the WWE Raw Tag Team Champions, Luke Gallows, recently spoke to Fox Sports about the concept for the show and he says it shows WWE stars in a different light.
“Southpaw Regional Wrestling is a concept of this … basically 1980s southern regional wrestling promotion or territory, and it’s a lot of stuff that the guys have been doing for years backstage to entertain each other. I know my character in particular has been an ongoing thing for the better part of a decade. It was really us getting to kind of take the gloves off and use our… comedic style, if there is one. You’ll get the chance to judge for yourself, but you’ll see a lot of people step outside of the realm of what you’ve seen them do, character-wise, and as in-ring performers as a part of WWE. So it’s kind of a chance for everybody to let their hair down. I didn’t get to because I don’t have any, but everybody else. And we had a blast doing it, man. That thing drops tomorrow. I just watched the teaser myself, I was trying to get them to shoot me a link but they won’t do it.”
If you’ve ever listened to Luke Gallows talk then you likely know that he commonly refers to people as “good brothers.” Some fans seem to be confused on what exactly a “good brother” is, and luckily Gallows was nice enough to clear up any confusion.
“A Good Brother means a lot of different things to a lot of different people, but I think it’s being one of the boys. It’s being a good guy in the back, a morale booster. The Good Brothers all love doing what we do. We all love being professional wrestlers or sports entertainers. We all grew up wanting to do it, and we all appreciate the history of where the business came from.”
Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson are set to defend the Raw Tag Team Titles against Cesaro and Sheamus and Enzo Amore and Big Cass in a triple threat match at WrestleMania 33.
