Lucha Underground Reportedly Coming To Netflix This Month, Recent WWE Tryouts

WWE has been scouring the globe for new talent to bring into their universe and they recently looked very closely at talent in the Philippines. Reports are that WWE held try-outs at a Revolution show in Quezon City on Saturday with two top female talents making the top of the list.

Crystal and Robynn were at the try-out although there is no word on how well it went for either of them. It does however, bode well for the rumor that WWE will be holding holding a female exclusive tournament soon much like the Cruiserweight Classic where they feature talent from all over the planet.

Triple H commented in a recent interview that a female exclusive WWE Network tournament might happen as early as this summer.

On an interesting note, before Crystal became an in-ring competitor she was an announcer and backstage interviewer. Therefore, it should never be ruled out that Renee Young doesn’t have a shot at some action in the squared circle eventually. This is of course is just speculation, but she did recently do a pretty good job of selling a slap from Maryse.

For fans of lucha wresting that can’t find the El Rey on their channel guide or simply don’t have time to watch Lucha Underground and all of it’s unique wrestling presentation, there will soon be another way to catch-up on the action.

Court Bauer is reporting via his MLW Radio show that the AAA partnered promotion will make their content available for streaming on Netflix beginning February 15th. You can check out the episode below, the discussion about Lucha Underground starts at the 49 minute mark.

The fist two seasons of Lucha Underground are to be made available immediately for online viewing through the subscription service that will also be home to the highly anticipated G.L.O.W created by Weeds and Orange is the New Black visionary Jenji Kohan.

The G.L.O.W series will follow the stories behind the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling promotion that existed in the 1980’s and 90’s. G.L.O.W is still technically an existing promotion, but their activity since 2001 has been sporadic at best.

Although it isn’t known whether or not this show will stick to the shoot or even kayfabe stories around the promotion, it is very exciting especially when considering the creative input from Kohan and her track-record of putting out gripping and often humorous television.
