This Sunday the stars of the WWE will be showing the world what they can do at the biggest party of the summer when WWE SummerSlam airs live on the WWE Network. For the past few years the Barclays Center in Brooklyn has hosted SummerSlam, and it looks like the trend is going to continue in 2018.
WWE announced today via the New York Post that fans will have the chance to attend SummerSlam in Brooklyn once again in 2018, as the event is set to take place from the Barclays Center next year.
“Our partners in New York have worked tirelessly to help create the incremental growth of SummerSlam week through the presentation of not only our ticketed and fan events at the Barclays Center, but also through the community-based events taking place in the city’s five boroughs,” said John Saboor, WWE’s executive vice president of special events. “We are very proud of that and the work that we have done.”
Seeing as how SummerSlam is one of WWE’s big 4 pay-per-views, the Barclays center will also host NXT the night before, as well as Raw and SmackDown Live on the nights following the SummerSlam pay-per-view.
Back in 2010 Wade Barrett wrestled in the SummerSlam main event when he was the leader of the Nexus, but Barrett has since moved on from the professional wrestling business.
Nowadays Wade Barrett is going by his real name Stu Bennett, but apparently that just doesn’t sit right with one Starbucks employee who is clearly a wrestling fan.
The former WWE Intercontinental Champion recently stopped by Starbucks to pick up a drink, and after leaving he noticed a very familiar word on his cup.
