Last month Lio Rush was released from WWE, and the former Cruiserweight Champion got a lot of people talking recently when he took to Twitter to say that he may never wrestle again.
During a recent interview with Sportskeeda Lio Rush was asked if he posted that tweet because he’s really into his music right now, or if he posted it because there was honesty behind it.
“I think it was both. I knew that this album was coming out, I knew I was going to continue to pursue music so, in that sense, I’m thinking, ‘Man, I’m doing so much with music, this is a passion of mine, I just might not step into the ring again.'”
While talking about his professional wrestling career Rush noted that he’s “gone through in the wrestling business that I feel like have traumatised me in a way and that has just been pretty disappointing.”
He elaborated on those comments and noted that when he was a kid and wrestling was his dream he didn’t think about all of the “bulls**t” and backstage politics that go on in wrestling. He said now he has an opportunity to be home with his family and focus on his music.
“I’m just happy right now, and why would I put myself back in a position where I didn’t have control over a lot of things, and I was frustrated, angry, confused? Why put myself back in that position when I can be over here and be happy, and stay happy?”
