Dear Marks, Smarks, Fans and Fellow Stupid Idiots…
We fight like cats and dogs over who’s getting buried, who should be pushed, what color Eva’s hair should be, which superstar deserves this or that but like a true family… We band as one when it’s called for.
When a wrestler passes away, we come together and literally pay our respects whether it be just a simple “RIP” comment, or we share a story about a time in our lives when that particular wrestler had an impact on us. That doesn’t go unnoticed. Mr. Fuji recently passed on and his granddaughter reached out to us to just simply thank, not just us but everyone of the comments she read on our page and others from wrestling fans around the world. She said just how special it was to see that her grandfather touched so many lives. It’s little things like this that make me proud to be a wrestling fan.
We also come together strong when somebody disrespects or belittles the sacrifices that every pro wrestler takes when they enter the squared circle. They put their lives on the line in many cases because entertaining “us” is their addiction. They live to hear us “boo” or chant “This Is Awesome!” They get one take to perform stunts that on a movie set would get a minimum of five. They cut promos in front of crowds of blood thirsty wrestling fans, knowing if they screw up or stumble on a sentence… The dreaded “What?!” chant is right there to suffocate any chance of redeeming themselves. It takes a special breed of human to be able to do this and I take solace in the fact that wrestling fans respect everyone who tries it. (Even Eva Marie guys… Even Eva Marie)
If you’ve been a wrestling fan for more than a day, you’ve probably already had to deal with some form of ridicule like “That’s so fake!” Or “I can’t believe you like that.” It’s a weird group we have because these same people wouldn’t just go up to someone and say “You know Game of Thrones is fake, right?”or “You still watch Star Wars?” It’s almost like people on the outside see how much fun we’re having and they don’t get it… So they try to rain on our parade but when push comes to shove… We don’t really give a damn about them. We like what we like. We get it. As far as I’m concerned, we’re way fucking cooler anyway.
