Unfortunately the wrestling world has lost another legend as Joseph Michael Laurinaitis, best known to wrestling fans as Road Warrior Animal has passed away at the age of 60. Hulk Hogan was the first to break the news when he posted the following on Twitter:

The official Road Warrior Animal Twitter account also confirmed the news, and noted that the family will be releasing a statement later today.

“At this time, we would like to confirm the passing of Joseph Laurinaitis aka Road Warrior Animal at the age of 60. The family is planning to release a statement later today. At this time we ask for you to keep everyone in your thoughts and prayers. #OhWhatARush”

The Road Warriors were considered to be one of the greatest teams in the history of professional wrestling, and they won championships all over the world. They wrestled their last match in 2003, and Hawk passed away a few months later. The team was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2011.
