Lawsuit Against Vince McMahon Dropped

To say it’s been an eventful year for Vince McMahon would be an understatement as he retired from WWE last July after it was revealed that McMahon had paid millions of dollars in hush money payments to suppress allegations of sexual misconduct.

A group of WWE shareholders filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon suing him for the cost of the investigation related to the payments, but it appears that the lawsuit has now been dropped.

Bloomberg reports that the WWE shareholders agreed to drop the lawsuit on Wednesday noting that their claims became moot after Vince McMahon agreed in March to repay $17.4 million in expenses related to WWE’s investigation. It was noted that the motion was granted by Vice Chancellor J. Travis Laster on the same day.

Earlier this year Vince McMahon returned to WWE to sell the company and it was announced the day after WrestleMania 39 that WWE will be acquired by Endeavor. There was talk of Vince McMahon possibly leaving the company if requested by potential buyers, but that turned out to not be the case.

One way or another it appears that Vince is here to stay as Ari Emanuel made it clear after the Endeavor deal was announced that Vince will continue to be a big part of the company when he said, “Well, I would have said the following, I would have body slammed him if he thought he was going to leave. Because as I said to you before, here’s a man who has seen around the corners at every beat over the last four years of this business and has a vision for where this business way before a lot of people see it. Him now being able to utilize what we have built in our flywheel, I’m the luckiest guy in the world because I got Vince McMahon, a visionary that sees around corners, I got Dana White, and what we’ve built, that’s pretty unstoppable.”
