The Royal Rumble has come and gone, and the 2018 Royal Rumble pay-per-view featured two Rumble matches, both of which had some big surprise entrants.
The first ever women’s Royal Rumble featured some big names from the past such as Trish Stratus, Lita and others, and the men’s match featured the return of The Hurricane, Rey Mysterio and more.
Everyone seems to agree that Rey looked great, and he got a huge pop from the crowd as soon as his music hit. Now everyone’s wondering if we could be seeing the former World Heavyweight Champion pop up in WWE in the near future.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that even though Mysterio was only scheduled for one appearance in the Royal Rumble match, the door is open for him to do more with the company.
Rey has commitments all over the world at the moment, but he’s not currently signed to a contract with anyone.
As noted Rey Mysterio was recently negotiating with Impact Wrestling, and there was reportedly a plan in place for him to face Alberto El Patron at the upcoming pay-per-view in April. But the deal wasn’t finalized by the last set of tapings, and Austin Aries ended up taking the spot originally intended for Mysterio.
If he does eventually return to WWE, it wouldn’t be full time as he’s expressed several times that he’s not interested in working a full time schedule.
